the hubble telescope took a picture of two galaxies colliding. pretty. then you think that each of those galaxies has 10 million to one trillion stars, each of which is the equivalent of our sun, and there are lots of these galaxies in the universe. it reminds me that we're really small and statistically speaking there have to be some other forms of life out there, intelligent or otherwise. the article says that it will take hundreds of millions of years for the galaxies to merge and by that time humans may be extinct, and almost all traces of our existence will be gone. and on that high note, i leave you with the pretty picture.
